How to connect Strava to Google Gemini (US subscribers, October 2026)

Strava has started rolling out a Gemini connection for its US subscribers, so you can ask Gemini about your own training. It’s read-only, and it runs through the same Strava connector Claude has had since June (per Strava’s help article). ChatGPT still has no official Strava connection. To connect, open Gemini, go to Customize, then Connectors, and add Strava.

What changed

On October 28, 2026, Strava announced that it’s now a connected app in Google Gemini, rolling out in the US from that day. The announcement came from Strava’s press room. Google hadn’t said anything we could find: neither Gemini’s release notes nor Google’s Connected Apps help page named Strava when we checked on October 29.

Strava’s help article on its AI connector has been retitled “How do I connect Strava to an AI assistant?” and now lists two assistants: Claude, since June 2026, and Google Gemini, since October 2026. Strava says the connection is read-only: Gemini can’t upload, edit or delete anything on your account. You can disconnect at any time (steps below).

Who can use it

  • Strava subscribers. The help article lists the plans that include it: the standard subscription, Strava + Runna, Family, Student, and the military, educator and medical discounts. Free accounts aren’t on the list.
  • In the US. Strava says connecting to Gemini is only available in the US at launch.
  • On any Gemini plan, per Strava’s announcement, which says it’s available to subscribers “across all Gemini plans.” Google hasn’t published its own eligibility details.

How to connect Strava to Gemini

From Gemini, on the app or the web, per Strava’s help article:

  1. Open Gemini and choose Customize in the sidebar (look under More if it isn’t there).
  2. Choose Connectors. On the mobile app, if Strava isn’t listed, tap Inactive.
  3. Find Strava, choose Add, then sign in to Strava and approve access.

The rollout started October 28, so if Strava isn’t in the list yet, it may not have reached your account.

You can also start from Strava. On strava.com, hover over your profile picture, choose Settings, then MCP, and pick the assistant. In the Strava app, tap You, then Settings, then AI Assistants, and pick Gemini. Strava’s press release describes the Gemini side a little differently, as finding Strava under connected apps in Gemini’s Personal Intelligence; the steps above are the ones in the help article.

What you can ask

Strava’s press release gives examples. Are you getting faster at the same heart rate? How did your last race go, in detail? How much did the heat slow down a weekend long run? It also suggests comparing your fastest 10K this year with your all-time best, how strength work affects your running, and your longest running streak.

The help article says the assistant can currently use activity history, fitness trends, cross-sport insights, gear, best efforts, activity weather and streaks, and says Strava plans to add more. Strava caps requests per minute and per day but doesn’t publish the numbers, and it warns that answers may differ from its own features, naming Performance Predictions and Runna plans.

For prompts written for the same connector in Claude, see our Strava MCP prompts; we haven’t checked which of them carry over to Gemini.

How to disconnect

  • In Gemini: Customize, then Connectors, then the More options menu next to Strava, then Disconnect.
  • On strava.com: Settings, then My Apps, then Revoke Access next to the assistant.
  • In the Strava app: You, then Settings, then AI Assistants, pick the assistant and tap Disconnect, which takes you to My Apps on strava.com to revoke access.

Gemini and Claude side by side

Strava’s announcement says the Gemini launch builds on its Claude launch, and the help article treats them as one connector: the same Settings, then MCP entry on strava.com, the same Strava plans, the same revoke flow. Setup for every Claude client is on our Strava MCP page.

Same for both: a paid Strava subscription from the same plan list, read-only access, and revoking from My Apps on strava.com.

What about ChatGPT?

Still no official Strava connector. Strava’s help article names Claude and Gemini as the assistants you can connect, and says Strava is looking at adding more, with no names or dates. We found no ChatGPT or OpenAI announcement in Strava’s press room. If you use ChatGPT, our guide to connecting Strava to Claude and ChatGPT covers the workarounds, and other AI tools that read Strava data are in AI apps that use Strava data.

What’s still unknown

  • What Google may do with the data. Strava’s API and MCP FAQ says it launched with Anthropic because it believes Anthropic will honor terms not to use your data to train its models without your consent. When we checked on October 29, that FAQ didn’t mention Gemini, and Strava hasn’t said what Google has agreed to. The help article points Gemini users to Google’s Gemini privacy hub.
  • When it reaches other countries. Strava says US only at launch and that it’s working on more countries, with no date.

We’ll update this post when Strava or Google says more on either.
