Does TrainingPeaks connect to Strava?

No direct connectionNothing syncs directly

No. TrainingPeaks' help center says the two platforms don't offer direct syncing, and that page still says so after Garmin bought TrainingPeaks in July 2026. To get a workout on both, connect your watch or bike computer to each account, or move a file by hand. TrainingPeaks Virtual is the exception: it uploads rides to Strava.

What it costs

There's no integration to pay for. A device connected to both accounts works on TrainingPeaks' free Basic account, which includes uploading workouts from devices and apps, and Strava's Garmin article doesn't mention a fee for that link. Uploading a file to Strava doesn't need a subscription either, though non-subscribers are limited to 15 files at a time against 25. TrainingPeaks Virtual comes with TrainingPeaks Premium, $19.95 a month or $134.99 a year as of October 2026, with a 14-day free trial.

How to set it up

  1. To keep both accounts up to date, connect your watch or bike computer to each one separately. TrainingPeaks says Garmin, Suunto, Polar, Wahoo and the other major device makers sync with it directly, and all four appear on Strava's list of compatible devices. Each platform then gets its own copy of the workout.
  2. On Garmin, for example, link Garmin Connect to TrainingPeaks from the TrainingPeaks website, and link it to Strava from Strava's app or website. New activities then go to both on their own.
  3. To move one activity from Strava to TrainingPeaks, open it on the Strava website, not the app. Add /export_tcx to the end of the activity's address, or /export_original for the original file, and press Enter. TrainingPeaks says the TCX and .fit files both contain heart rate and power data. Strava says the original comes in whatever format it was uploaded in, often FIT.
  4. Drag the downloaded file onto your TrainingPeaks calendar. It lands on the date stored in the file.
  5. To go the other way, open the workout in TrainingPeaks, click Files, then Download, and upload that file to Strava from the website (the orange plus icon, Upload Activity, File). TrainingPeaks' Export Data page in Settings exports all your workout files for up to 12 months at a time.
  6. For indoor rides in TrainingPeaks Virtual, open your profile, choose Connected Accounts, then Connect under Strava, and authorize it in your browser. On Mac or Windows, TrainingPeaks says you end the ride, pick your screenshots, select Upload, and the ride shows on Strava after 1 to 2 minutes.

Limitations and gotchas

  • Neither company documents a direct link. TrainingPeaks' help states it in both its Strava article and its device compatibility article, and Strava's list of compatible devices and apps names neither TrainingPeaks nor TrainingPeaks Virtual.
  • Garmin's July 22, 2026 announcement of the deal doesn't mention Strava, and we found no later word from Garmin, TrainingPeaks or Strava of a sync being added, as of October 30, 2026.
  • TrainingPeaks' Strava article only covers moving workouts into TrainingPeaks. For the other direction we found no page from either company beyond downloading a file from one and uploading it to the other, and Strava's tapiriik article, below.
  • The two companies disagree about GPX. TrainingPeaks says heart rate isn't available in .gpx files, while Strava says its GPX exports include heart rate, cadence and temperature. We can't settle that from their documentation, so TCX or the original file is the safer choice.
  • Strava says TCX export only works for activities with GPS data, which may leave out indoor sessions. TrainingPeaks' article doesn't mention this, so use the original file for those.
  • A workout downloaded from TrainingPeaks comes out in the format it went in. TrainingPeaks accepts .pwx files, and Strava's help lists only TCX, FIT and GPX.
  • TrainingPeaks only documents TrainingPeaks Virtual sending rides to Strava, not anything coming back, and not the rest of your TrainingPeaks calendar. A maximum of two screenshots can go with each ride.
  • Apple TV has no web browser, so TrainingPeaks says to connect Virtual to Strava from a Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone or iPad device first. If you connected before July 2025, it says to disconnect, wait a few seconds and reconnect.
  • tapiriik, a third-party sync service, is named in Strava's help center alongside TrainingPeaks, in an article that says it syncs to Strava and vice versa, and it appears on TrainingPeaks' Upload page. It charges $2 a year for automatic syncing; otherwise you start each sync on its site. Its FAQ says manually entered activities aren't reaching TrainingPeaks, and its public code hasn't had a commit since November 2023. We couldn't confirm that it still moves activities between the two.
  • RunGap, an iPhone, iPad and Mac app with no Android version, is on TrainingPeaks' compatible list, and its support page lists both Strava and TrainingPeaks for import and export. Its help doesn't walk through moving a workout between those two. Sending to either needs its paid Swag Bag ($4.99 a quarter or $14.99 a year on the App Store), and RunGap says importing completed workouts from TrainingPeaks needs TrainingPeaks Premium.
