Does Wahoo connect to Strava?

What it costs

Ride upload and route sync carry no charge in either company's documentation. Strava Live Segments on the unit need a paid Strava subscription, and Strava's Live Relative Effort only shows up on the activity for subscribers.

How to set it up

1. ACE, BOLT 3 or ROAM 3: in the Wahoo app, go to Today, tap the profile icon, then Account, then Authorized Apps, and authorize Strava.
2. Then expand the arrow next to Strava and switch Auto-share on. It is off by default, so skipping this step is the usual reason rides never arrive.
3. Older ELEMNT, BOLT and ROAM units: in the ELEMNT app, go to Profile, then Authorized apps, then Strava. Then under Settings, make sure Automatic upload is on with Strava ticked.
4. For Live Segments on a current unit, turn them on per workout profile (Wahoo app, Devices, your ELEMNT, Workout profiles), star segments in Strava, then press Sync on the unit's Strava Live Segments page while it's on Wi-Fi.

What reaches Strava

• Every completed ride, once it reaches Wahoo's cloud over Bluetooth through the app or straight from the unit over Wi-Fi
• You can also share a single ride by hand: Wahoo app, History, the ride, the three dots, Sharing, then Share next to Strava

What comes back from Strava

• Starred Strava routes and routes you created or saved in Strava, either the whole library over Wi-Fi or one at a time over Bluetooth
• Custom waypoints and points of interest on those routes, for the ACE, BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 on firmware from October 2025 onward, if you built them in Strava's desktop route builder. Routes synced before that update need to be cleared and re-synced (deauthorize Strava in the Wahoo app, Wi-Fi sync, reauthorize, sync again) before the waypoints show.
• Starred segments as Strava Live Segments, with your PR or the KOM/QOM to race
• Optionally, new Strava activities recorded elsewhere, into your Wahoo app or SYSTM history

Limitations and gotchas

• Rides recorded before you linked Strava don't sync. On the ACE, BOLT 3 and ROAM 3 you can copy the .FIT file off over USB (firmware from March 2026, after turning on USB access in the Wahoo app's device settings) and upload it to Strava by hand.
• Strava-synced routes can only be renamed or deleted in Strava. To get rid of one on the unit, unstar or delete it there and sync again.
• The original ELEMNT and the BOLT v1 get no turn-by-turn text cues on Strava routes.
• On the ACE, BOLT 3 and ROAM 3, Live Segments load over Wi-Fi only, not Bluetooth, and need a phone with a data connection as well. Downhill segments never sync, even some showing a 0% grade.
• Strava says Live Segments work on all Wahoo bike computers. Wahoo says the ELEMNT MINI isn't supported.
• Strava's pages still tell everyone to use the ELEMNT app and a Connected Apps menu. For a BOLT 3 Wahoo says the opposite: pair it with the Wahoo app, not the ELEMNT app. Follow Wahoo's steps for current units.
• Strava says starred segments load automatically on the next sync. Wahoo's steps for current units have you press Sync on the Live Segments page yourself.
• Strava documents Live Relative Effort only for the ELEMNT BOLT and ROAM. Neither company documents it for the ACE, BOLT 3 or ROAM 3.
• Pulling Strava activities into Wahoo needs the permission to view your private activities; if Strava was linked before November 2024, deauthorize and authorize again. Imports start from the day you switch it on, arrive titled Uploaded File, can't be shared on to other apps, and rides Wahoo sent to Strava aren't pulled back in.
• A KICKR trainer doesn't link to Strava itself. The app you rode with (the Wahoo app, SYSTM or another) is what uploads.
