What is 2PEAK?

2PEAK writes a training plan for triathlon, cycling, running or cross-country skiing, then keeps rewriting it. You set a goal and tell it which days you can train and for how long. It works out the training load you need and fits the sessions into those slots. After every workout it analyses the effort and the recovery time it expects you'll need, and the coming sessions change to match. The homepage calls it an AI-based personal coach.

It's Swiss and, by app standards, old. 2PEAK launched in 2003, and its team page describes it as the first program to calculate individualized, dynamic training plans fully automatically. It belongs to Quevita AG in Olten, which the same page says is led by marathon runner Viktor Röthlin and CEO Stefan Lombriser. The homepage counter shows about 257,000 users. You can use it on the web or with the iPhone and Android apps.

Strava is one of the ways your workouts get in. Connect it and 2PEAK pulls 90 days of history on the first connection to judge your fitness level, and each new activity after that feeds the next round of re-planning.

Key Features

A plan that moves when you do

The pricing page says every deviation from the plan triggers an automatic adjustment. Skip a session or change the time you have and the coming sessions are recalculated. For illness, injury or a holiday there's a temporary load reduction: you pick a return date and a return-to-training strategy, quicker if a race is close, gentler if it isn't.

A recovery battery

The 24h Regeneration Battery shows your recovery level. It drops after each session, and 2PEAK uses it to plan recovery phases, so the plan sometimes gives you only easy sessions even when you have time for more. On the web you can hover over it to see the hours left until full recovery, and if it doesn't match how you feel you can set it by hand.

Fitness without a test

The Performance Index, added in August 2026, estimates your FTP on the bike and your threshold speed on the run from the workouts you already record. It draws a curve over the past weeks with a shaded band around it and a confidence score from 0 to 100. 2PEAK says it needs at least seven valid sessions to settle, and that a value goes stale after a week without a useful workout. Training zones can update on their own too, once you have at least 15 recent sessions with complete data, uploaded directly or through Garmin, Strava or Coros.

Race targeting and the bigger plans

The Race plan lets you aim the season at one main race, with peak form timed for that date (a tour or a cycling holiday counts). It adds automatic analysis with an interval scan, indoor and smart-trainer sessions, and multisport, which lets you add sports from a list of 23 to the plan around your main one. Unlimited adds any number of target races, training camp blocks, a nutrition plan, one written question a month to a coach, and an AI Coach that explains the goal of each workout.

Workouts on your watch

With some platforms the connection runs both ways. The help page gives Garmin Connect and Wahoo as examples of data going both ways, and says the plan shows up in Garmin Connect; and the Android listing says workouts upload from the app to a Garmin watch or an Apple Watch.

Who It's For

  • Triathletes who want swim, bike and run sessions coordinated around one target race
  • Riders and runners with irregular weeks, since you set the available time for each day
  • Anyone tired of FTP tests, now that the Performance Index estimates threshold from ordinary training
  • Cross-country skiers, who get their own plans

What it doesn't do

It isn't free to keep on the website: there's a 14-day trial, then a subscription for 6, 12 or 24 months. The cheapest plan, Fit, is the adaptive plan and the recovery battery. Targeting a race, multisport and indoor sessions all need Race or above. Questions to a human coach come only with Unlimited, one a month, in writing.

None of 2PEAK's pages name Strava as a place your plan goes. The help page gives Garmin Connect and Wahoo as its two-way examples and doesn't say whether Strava is one, so count on Strava as the way finished workouts come in.

What does 2PEAK do with my Strava data?

Its privacy policy says a connected service sends what you authorise, typically activities with duration, distance, pace, speed, heart rate, power, cadence, elevation and GPS route, and that 2PEAK uses it only to build and adapt your plan and to show your activities and statistics. If the same workout arrives from Strava and from your watch, 2PEAK recognises the duplicate. Disconnecting stops further transfers, but activities already imported stay until you delete them or the account. The policy says access tokens are stored encrypted and that data is processed in Switzerland, the EU and the US. Deleting your account erases your personal and training data within 30 days; the terms add that if you ever paid, your name, email, sport, language, account ID, deletion date and payments are kept.

Do I need to do a fitness test before I start?

No. When you create a plan, 2PEAK can work out your fitness level and training zones from workouts you've already done, and connecting Strava or Garmin Connect is one way it gets them. You can also enter results from performance tests or reference times. If you want to test, it has its own: a maximal power test and a time trial for cycling, a VAM test for running and a critical swim speed test.

Is there a free version, and is the app cheaper?

The website offers a 14-day free trial and then the paid plans. The App Store listing mentions a free version alongside the membership but doesn't say what it includes. The App Store lists its own in-app purchases, monthly ones among them, at prices that differ from the website's. 2PEAK is Qualicert certified, and its pricing page says some health insurers contribute to the cost of a membership.
