What is HYBRD?
HYBRD started as a coaching app for people who lift and do cardio, and its homepage now leads with something else: a connector that gives the AI you already use your training history, plan and devices. Paste a prompt into Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client, sign in, and that assistant can read your workouts, write new ones and put them on your watch. There's still a full iPhone app, with its own AI coach called Brain and one plan that covers strength and endurance together.
Strava is one source among 20-odd. HYBRD pulls in your Strava history, keeps syncing new workouts, and can send workouts back. The company lists a Boston address, three of its four co-founders came from WHOOP and Appex, and its plans draw on programs from coaches including Alex Viada, author of The Hybrid Athlete.
Key Features
The connector
HYBRD's MCP server hands an AI your workouts, plan outline, goals, benchmarks and connected integrations, and lets it create, edit and complete workouts. Setup guides cover ChatGPT (through Codex, on a paid plan), Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. HYBRD also names Gemini CLI, but not Gemini's web or mobile apps, and any client that supports streamable HTTP and OAuth can use the same address. It doesn't need the iPhone app. HYBRD's pitch is continuity: as you finish sessions it adjusts the paces and weights it prescribes, and your plan stays put if you swap assistants.
One plan for lifting and cardio
Tell Brain a marathon time and a bench target and it sequences both in one plan, up to 52 weeks long. Miss three sessions on a work trip or tweak an Achilles and it rebuilds the block from where you are, rather than asking you to catch up. Since October 2026 it can change a plan in place or move your event date without regenerating the whole thing.
Workouts on your wrist
Structured sessions go to Garmin, Apple Watch and Coros, and the release notes add Wahoo and Amazfit. No watch? HYBRD tracks runs, hikes, rucks and walks on the phone, with guided sessions that lap automatically and pace you through intervals.
Logging lifts without the tapping
Type a session like a text, photograph a whiteboard or drop in a screenshot from another app, and Brain parses it. Strength apps including Hevy, Strong, StrongLifts and Fitbod are on the integrations list, and since September 2026 linked strength apps can feed in detailed lift data.
Sending to Strava
An option on the Integrations page, added in August 2026, sends lifts, runs, walks or hikes to Strava. Strava's September 2026 roundup named Hybrd among the strength apps that now sync with it.
Who It's For
- Hybrid athletes, the people training for a HYROX or a 70.3 while still caring about their squat
- People already planning training in Claude or ChatGPT who are tired of pasting their week in
- Runners who lift seriously, since the plan weighs fatigue across both
- iPhone users without a watch, who can run the whole plan from the phone
What it doesn't do
It isn't for everyone who runs. HYBRD's own comparison page says to pick Runna if your only goal is a faster 5K, 10K, half or marathon. There's no Android app on its site; the app link goes to the App Store only.
The site shows no prices; the App Store lists them. The Strava details are thin too. HYBRD says its AI gets your workout history and that a backfill brings dates, distances, loads, heart rate and sets, but it never says how much of that comes from Strava, how far back a Strava backfill goes beyond "what that account already holds", or what it sends to Strava beyond the activity types. Rides aren't among the types its release note names. Its privacy policy has a full section on Garmin and doesn't mention Strava by name.
What does connecting the MCP cost?
Signing in costs nothing, but an assistant can connect and then stop short, because most tools need a subscription. HYBRD's setup guide sends people without one to a Stripe checkout link or to app.hybrd.com, and neither publishes a price, so the App Store figures here may not be what you'd pay that way. The terms let you ask for a refund by email within 30 days of a payment, and they say Apple weighs refund requests on in-app purchases.
Do I need a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan as well?
For ChatGPT, yes: HYBRD's guide says the web route needs a paid plan, and custom MCP servers are added through Codex. On Business, Enterprise or Edu workspaces an admin may have to allow it. HYBRD's Claude steps don't mention a paid plan either way; in a managed organization an owner may need to approve the connector first.
Does a free account get Strava?
HYBRD doesn't quite say. Its backfill post says connecting more than one provider beyond Apple Health is part of a subscription, which reads as if one might be free, but we found nothing that confirms it. In the app, the setting is under Settings, then Integrations.
Who sees my training data?
In the app, Brain runs through providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The privacy policy says HYBRD doesn't use your personal information to train AI models, that those providers don't train on data sent through their APIs, and that they may keep inputs and outputs briefly, typically up to 30 days and longer if content is flagged for safety review. Connect your own assistant and, the policy's Garmin section says, HYBRD shares what that assistant requests, under that assistant's own terms.
