What is ENDURE?
ENDURE is an indoor cycling app for smart trainers that leads with one idea: stop doing FTP tests. It models your FTP and VO2max from the power and heart-rate data in the rides you already do, indoors and out, and shows both as trends over weeks and months instead of a number from one hard day.
There's no virtual world. You pair your trainer, pick a workout and ride, and the site says you're pedaling in under 30 seconds from opening the app. It's built in Austria by Christoph Martin, a cyclist and software engineer, and runs on iPhone and Android. The maker describes it as built together with the cycling community, with frequent updates.
Key Features
Trainer control
ENDURE pairs with and steers smart trainers that speak Bluetooth FTMS, in ERG mode (the trainer holds your target watts) or SIM mode. The site lists Wahoo, Garmin/Tacx, Elite, Saris, JetBlack/Zwift Hub, Kinetic and others, and says it hasn't tested every model, and a September update added older Tacx units (Neo 2, Neo 2T, Vortex Smart) that don't speak FTMS. It's Bluetooth only, so ANT+-only trainers won't connect. A Zwift Click changes your ERG target or the resistance from the handlebar; the site says v1 is the one it has verified, and that this adjusts resistance rather than simulating a cassette. The store listing also names Zwift Play and Ride controllers, and no Zwift subscription is needed.
Workouts
A curated library of sessions with a physiological purpose (VO2max, threshold, sweet spot, endurance), plus your own .ZWO, .MRC and .ERG files. Each morning it suggests a session from your recent training load and a short check-in, with one easier and one harder alternative and the reason behind the pick. You can also type a workout in plain words ("3x10min sweet spot with 5min rest") and the AI builds it, and recent versions export workouts as files for Zwift, TrainerRoad and others, or send them to Zwift through intervals.icu.
Analysis
After each ride you get NP, IF, TSS, time in zones, Pw:HR and an AI review of the session. Over time there's a power profile, a Potential analysis of whether your threshold or your aerobic ceiling is holding your FTP back, and Climbing Efficiency, a VAM-based score for the climbs it detects in your outdoor rides.
Lactate and heat
You can log lactate readings during a ride or afterwards, and it fits a curve to estimate your LT1 and LT2 thresholds with a confidence band. The CORE body temperature sensor pairs natively, with live heat zones on the ride screen and core temperature saved alongside power and heart rate.
Who It's For
- Riders on a smart trainer who want structured workouts and analysis without a game around them
- Anyone tired of ramp tests who records power and heart rate on most rides
- People who use a lactate meter or a CORE sensor and want those numbers next to their power data
- Riders who log outdoor rides on Strava and want them counted in the same FTP and VO2max picture
