What is MapMyTrails?
MapMyTrails takes every activity you've logged in one area and prints it as a heatmap poster. You connect Strava (or upload files), choose a city or a patch of trails, pick a style, size and material, and it gets printed and posted to you. The heatmap part is literal: the site counts how many times you've been along each street or trail, and the ones you use most come out brighter and thicker.
It's a small family business based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Prices are set in Swedish kronor. Printing happens at a partner lab close to the delivery address, which the FAQ says covers more than 30 countries.

Strava or files
Connecting Strava syncs your runs, rides, hikes and the rest in the background, and there's a "Sync from Strava" button for new ones. Without Strava you can upload FIT, GPX or TCX files, or a whole Garmin export as a ZIP, which is unpacked in your browser before upload. The FAQ points people with Garmin, Apple Health, Suunto, Coros or Polar workouts to this route. The FAQ says you don't need an account at all for the manual route.
Filters and framing
Filter by sport (running, trail running, cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing and so on) and by date range, and switch single activities on or off. Then set the map area yourself.
Ten styles, six as hexagons
Ten map looks (Watercolor, B&W, Clay, Terrain, Positron, Japanese Ink, Linen, Arctic, Blueprint and Dark Matter), six of which (Clay, Japanese Ink, Blueprint, Arctic, Dark Matter and Positron) also come as a hexagon-grid heatmap. The FAQ also lists heatmap colours, line weights and a text panel with a headline, subtitle, stats (total distance, elevation gain, number of activities) and dates.

Frames are FSC-certified solid wood in black, white, natural and dark wood, with the wood ones at the top of each range. The paper is an archival matte, the canvas comes stretched on a wooden frame, and the aluminium is brushed. Before you order, a "See in room" view shows the poster on the wall of a sample room, light or dark. Shipping is extra, depends on the country, size and material, and is shown at checkout. A hi-res digital file is 50 kr; the FAQ describes it as an add-on to a print. Prices default to kronor for Swedish-language browsers and euros for everyone else, and a menu in the header switches between kronor, euros and US dollars, converted at the current exchange rate.
Gift cards
A gift card is a single-use coupon for a print with shipping included: 449 kr for a 25x25 cm unframed print, 699 kr for an unframed 50x70 cm poster, or 1,499 kr for a 70x100 cm poster in a wood frame. You can also pick a custom amount. You enter the recipient's email and an optional message when you buy.

Worth Knowing
Every order is reviewed by hand before it goes to print, and the FAQ says that can add up to 24 hours. The terms put production at one to three business days after that, then tracked shipping; the FAQ puts printing at 24 to 48 hours and delivery at three to seven business days, and delivery estimates at checkout are indicative, not guaranteed, per the terms. Because each poster is made to order, the 14-day EU right of withdrawal doesn't apply once production starts. Damaged or defective prints are reprinted or refunded if you report them within 14 days of delivery. Customs charges for orders outside the EU are on you.
The privacy policy is dated September 25, 2026. It keeps your tracks while the account is active, and order records for up to seven years under Swedish accounting law. The print partner, Gelato, gets your name, address and the finished poster image, not your activities. Payments go through Stripe and order emails through Resend.
What does it access on Strava?
Read access to your profile and your activities, including private ones (the Strava scopes read and activity:read_all, per the Connect with Strava link). It doesn't ask for permission to write anything. The privacy policy spells out what that covers: your athlete ID, name and avatar, activity summaries (title, sport, date, distance, time, elevation) and the GPS streams it draws from, and it says heart rate and power aren't accessed. It also says activity data isn't sold, shared with advertisers or used to train AI models, and that you can delete single activities or the whole account from your profile, which removes the Strava tokens, profile and tracks from its active databases.
Will the poster look sharper than the preview?
According to the FAQ, yes. The on-screen map is tuned for speed, especially on phones, while the print and the digital file are rendered at 300 DPI.
