What is Caliber?
Caliber calls itself a science-based strength training app, combining resistance training, cardio, nutrition and habit formation. Day to day that means planning a workout, logging your sets and watching the numbers move. The logger is free with no cap on workouts. Above it sit Caliber Plus, which adds structured plans and scoring, and Premium Coaching, which pairs you with a human coach. The company's homepage leads with the coaching. The app stores lead with the free app.
For Strava users the draw is narrow and specific. Strava named Caliber as a launch partner of its May 2026 strength update, and its help article lists Caliber among the partners it imports exercise names, sets, reps, weight and working time from. An app that isn't on that list may only send time, calories and heart rate.
Key Features
Workout logging
Build your own workouts from a library of 800+ exercises, each with tutorial videos, then log sets with a rest timer and notes. The October 2026 release added exercise favorites and 60 more exercises.
Strength Score and Strength Balance
Both are Plus features. Strength Score measures how strong you are relative to your potential for your age and gender, and Strength Balance looks at how evenly you train across key muscle groups.
Plans and nutrition
Plus includes 120+ coach-designed plans, nutrition targets, custom exercises, supersets and progress photos.
Workout Circles
Private group chats for training with friends. When you hit a personal best, it's shared with the group. This one's free.
Premium Coaching
A one-on-one coach writes your training and nutrition plan, reviews your form from video and checks your progress weekly. Caliber bills it month to month with a 30-day money-back guarantee, but doesn't publish the price on its site.
A connector for ChatGPT and Claude
Added in July 2026 and free. It gives either assistant read-only access to your workouts, personal records, plans, body stats, nutrition, steps and cardio. Caliber says it doesn't use AI inside the app itself, and that its coaches are people.
Who It's For
- Runners and cyclists who lift, and want the gym on Strava with more than a duration attached
- Lifters who want a free log with no workout limit
- People who'd pay for a real coach over an algorithm
- Anyone already using Apple Health or Health Connect, since cardio, steps and body stats come in that way
What it doesn't do
The documented Strava connection runs one way, from Caliber to Strava. Nothing we found says your Strava runs or rides come into Caliber; its cardio import goes through Apple Health or Health Connect. The release notes that describe the upload are from the iPhone app, and the Android listing doesn't mention Strava, so check before counting on it there. Caliber's help center has no article on the connection either. There's also no public API, and no web version in the store listings or on the product page.
How do I connect Caliber to Strava?
Strava's help article says to open Settings in the Strava app, choose the option to connect an app or device, find the partner and authorize it, and that the partner app may need its own setting turned on before it shares exercise-level data. Caliber doesn't publish its own steps.
Do I need Caliber Plus for the Strava upload?
Caliber doesn't say. The upload isn't listed among the Plus features, but no page confirms it's free either.
Can I get my data out of Caliber?
The app has a workout data export under Menu, Account Details, and Caliber's connector page mentions CSV export and describes the AI connector as another way to get at your own data.
