How many still connect
Every listing with a Strava connection carries one of four states. The Strava app status page has the full list, with the page each status relied on.
| State | Apps | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Working | 225 | The maker or Strava documents the connection on a current page. |
| Degraded | 10 | Has a documented restriction, a workaround, or a reported problem, such as failing syncs or a site that’s down. |
| Unconfirmed | 14 | Nothing current from the maker or Strava mentions the connection. It may still work. |
| Discontinued | 29 | The app or its Strava connection has stopped. |
| No Strava connection to check | 4 | Tools that work on exported files or links, with no Strava sign-in. |
| Total | 282 |
By kind of app, sync tools have held up best: all 26 are still running, and 25 of them are documented as working. Gear apps lost the largest share, 3 of 10, followed by wellness apps, 5 of 21. Indoor apps lost 6 of 31. Analytics also lost 6, out of 63.
What changed, and why
The status changelog started on September 22, 2026, with the September recheck. Since then 25 changes have touched 22 apps (three changed twice), through October 10.
| Change | Count | Apps |
|---|---|---|
| Working to unconfirmed | 13 | Glo, Go365, hubtiger, KOMinator, McMillan Running, Mobvoi, Pace To Race, Smart Commute Rewards, Solos, stravalyzer, strive.ai, teroGO, WorkoutSnap |
| Working to degraded | 4 | HUAWEI Health, Kudos Post, Squadeasy, Vora |
| Working to discontinued | 2 | PainSled, VO2AI |
| Unconfirmed to discontinued | 1 | stravalyzer |
| Degraded to unconfirmed | 1 | Da Fit |
| Unconfirmed to working | 1 | Smart Commute Rewards |
| Discontinued to working | 1 | Stages Cycling |
| Working to discontinued, then corrected back | 2 | Trail Care |
Going quiet
More than half the changes moved an app from working to unconfirmed. That isn’t a finding that the app is broken. It means nothing current from the maker or Strava says the connection exists. Some of these apps haven’t shipped an update in years: WorkoutSnap’s iOS app was last updated in May 2020, Pace To Race in December 2020 and strive.ai’s iOS app in March 2022. KOMinator and Pace To Race are gone from Google Play, and teroGO’s store listings no longer resolve. The Strava guide from hubtiger dates from June 2023.
Others stopped describing Strava where the public can read it. Glo’s Strava help article now asks you to sign in, and Go365’s public device help no longer names the apps it works with. The current pages for Mobvoi, Solos and McMillan Running no longer document the connection; McMillan’s training FAQ names Garmin, COROS and Apple Watch syncing but not Strava.
Degraded
Squadeasy says its direct Strava sync no longer works, and Vora has no direct connection. Strava activities now reach both only through Apple Health or Health Connect. Strava’s own help page says the HUAWEI Health integration is only available in select countries and that Strava is aware of sync issues with it. Kudos Post’s site stopped loading in early October.
Stopped
PainSled’s developer announced its end in December 2025, along with the shutdown of the backend behind its Strava sync, and the app is gone from the App Store. VO2AI’s domain now shows a parking page. The stravalyzer site stopped loading around September 22, which moved it to unconfirmed; its maker then said by email that it won’t continue, because the Strava API access it relied on now costs money.
Corrections
Stages Cycling had been marked discontinued after being confused with Stages Link, a separate product. Stages’ support pages document the app uploading Dash rides to Strava, so it’s back to working. Smart Commute Rewards went to unconfirmed on September 22 and back to working on October 1, once its own February 2025 how-to guide turned up. Da Fit moved from degraded to unconfirmed: no Da Fit page documents a Strava connection, and users describe a manual in-app share. We had listed Trail Care as stopped in September, but it’s still running: its homepage still invites riders to connect Strava, and its totals kept growing through October. Three more changes came after this snapshot: on October 12 Zapier went to degraded after its Strava app lost its activity triggers, and on October 14 we found Power Delta and CommuteMarker still running and took them off the shut-down list. The counts in this post are as of October 10 and don’t include those changes.
Strava’s 2026 API changes
Since June 2026, creating an app on Strava’s API needs a Strava subscription, part of a developer program update announced June 1. A new app starts with only its owner. It can grow to 10 athletes without review; past that, Strava reviews it. Strava’s support FAQ says 140 multi-user apps, 0.06% of all apps, needed changes to keep working with Strava.
Of the 25 changes above, stravalyzer’s is the only one its maker ties to that. Two more apps are listed as degraded but aren’t in the table, because their status changed before the changelog began. Pelaris’s integrations page says Strava sync is temporarily unavailable because Strava changed API access for third-party developers. Elevate for Strava’s desktop app has failed to authorize with Strava since July 2026, according to a GitHub issue, while its browser extension still works. Builders will find the details on the developer pages.
What’s new
Of the 38 apps added between September 1 and October 10, 35 have a working connection and the other 3 don’t need one. September alone brought 34, the most in any month this year after the January launch list of 200.
| Month | Apps added | From their makers |
|---|---|---|
| June 2026 | 24 | 12 |
| July 2026 | 15 | 3 |
| August 2026 | 5 | 5 |
| September 2026 | 34 | 10 |
| October 1 to 10, 2026 | 4 | 2 |
Training apps led the new arrivals with 13, then sync and visualization with 9 each and analytics with 8 (an app can carry more than one of these).
Strength training is the new theme. On September 15, Strava named Lyfta, Gravl and HYBRD as new syncing partners, “joining a growing list of strength integrations.” All three were listed on September 22, the same day as four more gym apps that sync with Strava. The seven: Caliber, Gravl, HYBRD, iFIT Personal Trainer, Liftoff, Lyfta and Motra. That’s 7 of the 11 apps now tagged gym. The rest of September’s arrivals are in the September roundup.
What readers clicked
The site’s own event log starts on September 24, 2026, so this covers September 24 to October 9: 16 days. In that window readers clicked through to an app’s own site 715 times, from 464 visits, and those clicks went to 156 different apps, 55% of the directory. A click is someone heading to the maker’s site, not a sign-up.
| Kind of app | Apps listed | Apps clicked | Clicks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visualization | 46 | 38 | 231 |
| Analytics | 63 | 39 | 217 |
| File and import tools | 32 | 12 | 142 |
| Training | 82 | 43 | 130 |
| Prints | 18 | 17 | 88 |
| Routes | 16 | 11 | 82 |
| Sync | 26 | 14 | 80 |
| Art | 13 | 12 | 69 |
| Social | 41 | 19 | 55 |
| Automation | 9 | 8 | 43 |
| Weather | 8 | 7 | 41 |
| Health | 23 | 12 | 22 |
| Indoor | 31 | 13 | 20 |
Apps carry several tags, so the rows overlap and don’t add up to 715. Visualization and analytics apps drew the most clicks. File and import tools stand out the other way: only 12 of them were clicked, but those averaged about 12 clicks each (142 in all), well ahead of any other kind. 17 of the 18 print shops got at least one click. Indoor apps (31 listings, 20 clicks) and health apps (23 listings, 22 clicks) drew little.
Free apps averaged about 3.6 clicks per listing (372 clicks over 103 apps), against about 1.9 for freemium and 1.8 for paid. Free apps are also the likeliest to have stopped: 18 of the 103 free listings are discontinued, about 17%, against 10 of 117 freemium (9%) and 1 of 59 paid (2%). Apps submitted by their makers, 36 in all (including 4 on the January launch list), are 13% of the directory and took 22% of the clicks. The 38 apps added since September 1 are also about 13% of the directory, and took 28%; 12 of them are maker submissions, so the two groups overlap.
Clicks follow where readers arrive from, such as a search result or a link in a post, so a kind of app with a popular article behind it will look more popular than it is. And sixteen days is a short window.
How we count
- Working means documented, not tested. A status says what the maker’s site, help pages or store listing, or Strava’s help center, says right now.
- Every live listing was rechecked recently. All 249 listings that have a Strava connection and haven’t shut down were checked on or after September 22, 2026, 248 of them in October.
- The changelog is young. It began on September 22, 2026, so changes before then aren’t in it; 26 of the 29 discontinued apps were marked before it started. The changelog and every current status are on the status page, and as downloadable JSON.
- Clicks come from the site’s own event log, which keeps no cookies or IP addresses and only started on September 24. Smaller signals in it are too thin to report: readers filed 16 “did it connect?” reports across 12 apps in the window, which says nothing about any one app.
- This is the directory, not the whole ecosystem. 282 is how many apps Apps for Strava lists, not how many Strava apps exist.
