Mappa Studio

Route prints from Strava or GPX: one route, several on one map, or a mosaic of a whole season

Strava integration workingchecked Oct 2026Optional: connect Strava in the studio to pick activities, or upload a GPX file instead. The privacy policy names the scopes, basic profile (read) and all activities including private ones (activity:read_all), and the live Strava sign-in asks for exactly those. It imports each activity's name, distance, elevation, date and GPS track to draw the poster, keeps no raw Strava data beyond your browser session and any orders you place, and never writes to Strava.

Turns a Strava activity or a GPX file into a route print in three layouts: one route with its title, date and stats, several routes on one map (up to 50, such as a trip's stages or a triathlon's three legs), or a mosaic grid of many activities, like a year of running. Pick the map style, colours and stats in the browser, then order a digital file (from £10), an unframed fine-art print or a framed one in A4, A3, A2 or 18x24 in. Every print includes the digital file and free standard shipping to the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. A gift voucher for a set print lets the recipient pick their own route and design it.

What is Mappa Studio?

Mappa Studio is a web studio that prints your GPS tracks. Bring in a run, ride or hike from Strava or a GPX file, design the poster in the browser, and order it as a digital file, an unframed print or a framed one. It's run by Sportschord Ltd, and its terms are under the law of England and Wales.

The homepage leads with the single route ("Your run. On your wall."), but the newest push is the season print: its latest guide, from late October 2026, is about turning a year of runs or rides into one poster.

Key Features

Three layouts

Classic is one route, with a title, the date and your time. Multi-Route puts up to 50 activities on one map, each in its own colour, for the stages of a trip or the swim, bike and run of a triathlon. Mosaic gives each activity its own tile in a grid, with one route colour or a colour per sport, and you choose whether each tile shows its distance and date. Every layout has orientation, typography, colour and map style controls, and the preview is, in the site's words, exactly what gets printed.

Picking activities

The multi-route and mosaic designers filter by date (this year, last year, the past six months, all time or a custom range), by activity type and by activity name. Strava activities load in batches, so the year guide warns that a "this year" filter only narrows what's already loaded; use "Load more Strava routes" (when it's offered) before calling a year complete. Activities without a GPS track can't be drawn. Anything with one works: runs, rides, hikes, walks, swims and ski tours, per the Strava prints page.

Sizes and paper

A4, A3, A2 and 18x24 inches. Unframed prints are giclée on 200gsm fine-art paper; framed ones come with a mount board and anti-glare acrylic glazing, ready to hang. Every print order includes the full-resolution digital file at no extra cost. Prices show in pounds, US dollars, euros or Australian dollars; the site quotes digital from £10 and, served in US dollars, prints from $25 unframed and $65 framed. Each size's price shows in the studio once you pick it.

Delivery

Printing and shipping are handled by Prodigi. Standard shipping is free on every print, with paid express at checkout, and orders usually leave in 3 to 5 working days (framed ones can take longer), with tracking. Prints ship to the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands; digital files work anywhere.

Gifts

Design a print from someone's GPX file or a shared activity and ship it straight to them, with no prices on the packing slip. Or buy a gift voucher for a set print (A3 or A2, framed or unframed) without their route: you get a private claim link or have it emailed to them straight away, and they connect their own Strava or upload a GPX file and design it. If they choose something pricier, they pay the difference; anything left over stays on the gift.

Extras

The FAQ describes Route Replay, which animates the route and lets you inspect pacing along it before you finalise the design, and an Analysis page that summarises your recent Strava training: distance, frequency and the mix of activity types.

What it reads from Strava

Strava to Mappa Studio, read only, and only if you connect. The privacy policy names two scopes: read for your name and athlete ID, and activity:read_all, for all your activities including private (Only You) ones, so any route can go on a poster whatever its privacy setting. The Strava sign-in on the live site asks for exactly those two. It imports each activity's name, distance, elevation, date and GPS coordinates to draw the route, and the policy says raw Strava data isn't kept beyond your browser session and any orders you place. It never writes to Strava or posts for you. Disconnecting from your account settings revokes its access on Strava's side too.

No Strava account is needed: GPX files from Garmin, Coros, Suunto, Apple Watch, Wahoo or a Komoot export work the same way, and you can start designing and check out as a guest.

Who It's For

  • Runners and riders after a season on the wall, as a mosaic or one map of everywhere they went
  • Triathletes and bikepackers who want the legs or the stages of one event on a single print
  • People buying a gift who don't have the recipient's route, or who do and want it shipped straight to them
  • Anyone off Strava, through a GPX file from their watch or bike computer

What it doesn't do

It's a print shop, not a training log; nothing goes back to Strava. Prints ship only to the ten countries above. Each print is made to order, so there are no refunds for a change of mind; a print that arrives damaged or defective has to be reported within 14 days of delivery, with photos, for a replacement or a refund, and an order can't be cancelled once it's with the print partner. The gallery's samples are public GPX routes and labelled demos, not customer orders.

Can I mix Strava activities and GPX files in one print?

Yes, in the mosaic and multi-route designers. The year guide suggests checking for the same activity coming in twice, once from Strava and once as a file, since a duplicate adds an extra tile or counts its distance again. A GPX file with no date drops out while a date filter is on; give it its real date in the uploaded-route library.

What happens to my design files and account data?

The privacy policy says temporary poster files are purged within 24 hours of being made, design settings are saved in your browser, and account data is kept while your account is active, with deletion on request. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically six years in the UK. Payment goes through Stripe, and the site never sees your card details.

Is Mappa Studio made by Strava?

No. Its Strava prints page calls it an independent product that's compatible with the Strava API and says it isn't endorsed or certified by Strava.
