Strava integration workingchecked Sep 2026Read-only OAuth with activity:read_all, per the privacy policy, which also says Strava notifies the server when you create, change or delete an activity so the map stays current without polling. Nothing is posted to Strava. Activities are stored on the phone, with a backup of name, type, date, distance, elevation and route line on the maker's server; disconnecting Strava deletes the tokens and that backup straight away.

What is RouteMap?

RouteMap is a phone app that puts every GPS-tracked activity from your Strava account on a single map. Zoom out and you see everywhere you've been; zoom in far enough and, as the RouteMap page puts it, you can tell which side of the street you took. Treadmill runs, indoor rides and manual entries have no track, so the support page says they count in your stats but don't appear as lines.

It's made by Mandooist, based in Australia. The App Store listing says you can explore a sample map from the welcome screen before signing up or connecting Strava. After that you need a RouteMap account (email, Google, Apple or Strava sign-in) with Strava connected.

Key Features

One map, filtered

Filter by activity type, country, date range or distance, which covers a year in review, one holiday or every ride over 100 km. A place search tells you whether you've been somewhere, and favourites pin the activities you want to find again. Tap any route for its distance, moving time, elevation and average heart rate, with a link to the activity on Strava. The App Store listing also mentions a heatmap view.

Styles and colours

Four map styles (dark, light, satellite and topo), with place labels on or off. Each sport gets its own colour, and you can change any of them. Kilometres or miles.

Stats

Total activities, distance and moving time, a year-by-year line, totals per sport, a country breakdown and a "favourite spot", the place your routes pass through most.

Export

Frame part of the map in portrait or landscape, pick which details to print, and save the image to your photo library or share it. Free exports carry a small watermark; VIP exports don't, and can drop every label for a map-only image.

GPX in and out

Any activity can be downloaded as GPX, and you can import GPX files from elsewhere onto the same map. Imported routes are never sent to Strava, per the privacy policy, and they stay when you disconnect Strava.

Privacy and data

The privacy policy (updated September 24, 2026) is specific:

  • Strava access is read-only with activity:read_all, which includes activities set to "Only You". The app reads name, type, distance, dates and the route line, and never posts to or changes anything on Strava.
  • Strava pings the server when you create, change or delete an activity, so the map updates without polling.
  • Activities are stored on your phone, and a backup (name, type, date, distance, elevation, route line) sits on the maker's server so the map comes back on a new phone. The backend runs on Railway in the United States.
  • When VIP imports your full history, activities wait in a server cache for up to 7 days until the app collects them.
  • Disconnect Strava in Settings and the tokens, the backup and any cached activities are deleted straight away. If you delete an activity on Strava, only its number is kept, for up to 60 days, so an old copy on another phone can't bring it back.
  • The account deletion page says deleting the account clears the live database immediately and backups within 30 days.
  • Crash reports go to Sentry and are kept up to 90 days. Place search sends what you type to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, and the map itself is Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps on Android.

Worth Knowing

Version 1.0 reached the App Store on September 15, 2026 (Google Play lists a September 8 release), and 1.0.2 followed a week later with fixes for people with thousands of activities; the Google Play listing shows version 1.0.3, updated September 22, 2026, with 10+ downloads. On the App Store it's iPhone only.

The pricing wording doesn't match across the maker's own pages. The terms, updated September 24, 2026, say VIP is sold as an annual subscription and the lifetime tier (VIP Life) is only granted by gift code, and the App Store lists one purchase, RouteMap VIP Annual, at A$4.99 in Australia. The RouteMap page describes VIP as a one-time Lifetime purchase or an Annual subscription, and the Google Play description says "no subscriptions". The terms say the price is shown in the app before you buy.

Connect read-only, filter activities by date, distance, type or name, drag and zoom the map to set the crop, pick one of five colour themes, and download a 12x18in PDF at 300 DPI in portrait or landscape. A single activity works too: the route fills the frame and the race name goes in the caption. Free, capped at three posters per Strava account, no card.
