What is Strava Receipt?
Strava Receipt turns a Strava run into a picture of a shop receipt: a strip of thermal paper with the distance, pace and time itemized like groceries, and the route printed underneath. If you've seen one of these in someone's story and wondered how it was made, this is one tool that makes them. It's free and runs in the browser.
It started early in 2026 as an art project by Pete Cybriwsky, a creative technologist in New York, at receipts.repete.art, first as receipts printed on a real receipt printer and then as the digital version. It now lives on the site of Laurels, his brand of custom embroidered race shorts, and the old address forwards there. The privacy policy and terms were last updated on October 29, 2026.
Key Features
What goes on a receipt
The activity name, place and date, then distance, pace or speed, time, heart rate and elevation gain. Gear, PRs and achievements can go on too, along with your activity photos in black and white, the route drawn as a "route signature", and a QR code that opens the run on Strava. The sample on the page, a New York City Marathon, closes with a "suggested gratuity" of checkboxes (give some kudos, share with a friend, check out the Laurels site) above the Laurels mark and the copy line.
One run or a whole stretch
Besides a single run, a receipt can sum up a week, a month, a year or a longer period. Once you connect, the picker has tabs for each.
Your own copy line
The line at the bottom is yours to write, up to 24 characters once you're in the app, and the units switch between miles and kilometres.
Save, share, or print it for real
The receipt comes out as an image to keep or share to your story; once you're in the app, saving on a phone opens the share sheet where the browser supports it, and otherwise the picture downloads. Laurels also brings a receipt printer to some races, and at those pop-up tables you can have yours printed on actual receipt paper.
Who It's For
- Runners who saw a receipt-style run post and want to make their own
- Anyone marking a race, or a week, month or year of runs, on one receipt
- People who'd like a physical keepsake, if a pop-up table is at their race
Worth Knowing
It's built for runs. The site talks about runs throughout, and once you connect, the list shows runs, trail runs and virtual runs from Strava. Rides and other activities aren't offered.
You need a Strava account; there's no file upload on the receipts page. The privacy policy says it asks for the read and activity:read_all scopes, which take in activities you've marked private, and reads only what a receipt needs. Your runs come from Strava through its server to your browser and the receipt is drawn on your device; the server doesn't keep them. A copy of your recent activities is cached in your browser, and your Strava sign-in sits in an encrypted cookie. A receipt sent to a pop-up printer is deleted as soon as it prints, or within a day if it never does.
Like the rest of the Laurels site, these pages use the Meta pixel to measure ads. The privacy policy says it sees the page and your browser, never your runs or anything from Strava, and that in the EU, EEA and UK it loads only if you allow it.
The terms describe it as a free tool provided as is, which may change or stop without notice.
Is Strava Receipt free?
Yes. The terms call it a free tool from Laurels. Laurels sells embroidered running shorts, and the receipt's gratuity lines include one pointing to its site, but making and saving receipts costs nothing.
How do I disconnect Strava Receipt from Strava?
Open Choose a run and tap Disconnect Strava, which clears your sign-in and the runs cached in your browser. You can also revoke access any time from the apps page in your Strava settings.
Why are my photos missing from the receipt?
The support page says Strava sometimes takes a moment to send them, so print the run again a minute later.
